>>Cyrus Imapd 2.3.7 for the Linux Debian distribution

16 November 2006

All the versions of this article:

These packages were built on a Debian “sid” distribution.

Please do not disturb the official Debian package maintainers with questions about this build, but send questions or remarks directly to me : ffarid@pragmatic-source.com. But note that the official version that is being worked on by the Debian Cyrus Imapd team is based on my work.

This upload is signed with my PGP key (C8F9AA4B), which is itself signed by some official debian maintainers (although I’m not one myself).

You can download the binary and source packages here.

Important notes

I added a personnal patch to this release, named « debian/patches/95-karavel-specific.dpatch », that I needed for a deployment, but that may not suit your own needs. The changes are:

  • Do not chown cyrus dirs or deleted squat files on install/upgrade because it takes too much time on a system with more than 10.000 mailboxes.
  • On a system running mupdate, wait for mupdate socket to be ready before allowing connexions to imapd and lmtpd.

The second one is really essential in a multi-server environment, without it you might loose mail during startup time or when restarting Cyrus Imapd.

In case you don’t want this patch, just download the sources (*.orig.tar.gz, *.dsc, *.diff.gz), edit « debian/patches/00list » to comment this patch and recompile the software.
